Matt Sturgeon

I’m a Papa (grandpa) from southern Indiana who has always loved gospel music. My mother’s family instilled a love for God’s music in me as a child and no matter where I’ve gone or what I’ve done, that love has endured. Music has always been my praise and my prayer. 

I began singing in churches and playing for services at the age of 14. Throughout my twenties I was a church pianist, soloist, and choir director.  As often happens, life took me in different directions for many years and it wasn’t until the pandemic that I returned to playing music again.  It started with random livestreams on Facebook and throughout 2025 and 2026 a calling began to grow in my heart.  I began writing music and with a lot of help, began recording an album as an independent artist. My Facebook page, Southern Gospel Moments with Matt launched earlier in 2026 and a true ministry is blooming there as well. At the wonderful age of 56, God has called me into a ministry and put it on my heart to bring as many of His children home to Him as possible. What a blessing!
